Works with unknown Allitt numbers

Incomplete, Projected, Attributed Operas, Pastiches; Compositions for Voices with Orchestra; Cantatas (A69-A158)

Incomplete, Projected, and Attributed Operas; Pastiches (A69-A90)

Incomplete operas (A69-A73)
  • A 69 -
  • A 70 -
  • A 71 - Adelaide. Opera semiseria. Composed ca.1834 (Zavadini). "Unfinished MS then taken to Paris. I-Pc: c. 100 pages of MS. Much of the music was incorporated into L'ange de Nisida, and Ah! sperdosi appieno (quintet and chorus) became the conclusion to act 3 of La favorite" - Allitt
  • A 72 - Ne m’oubliez pas. Opéra-comique in 3 acts. Libretto: Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges. Libretto lost. A contract was signed on 30 September 1842 with Louis-Francois Crosnier of the Opéra-Comique, Paris. I-Pc: autograph material for 7 scenes. - Allitt
  • A 73 - La fidanzata. Farsa in 1 act (?). I-Pc: Jeremy Commons has shown that the aria Si, colpevol son io... was used as the final rondo in La romanziera e l'uomo nero (autograph). I-Nc: autograph score of same aria. The title could be an alternative for La romanziera e l’uomo nero. - Allitt - In.78
Projected operas (A74-A85)
  • A 74 - Circe. Benjamin Lumley approached Donizetti and Romani to write an opera based on this title for performance in London in the summer of 1842. Romani failed to submit the libretto and Donizetti was occupied in Vienna with Linda di Chamounix. - Allitt
  • A 75 - La fiancée du Tyrol. This was a tentative title offered for a reworking of Il Furioso for the Théâtre de la Renaissance. See Z328 - Allitt
  • A 76 - Francesca di Rimini. Donizetti mentions this project in a letter to Giovanni Lanza, published by Marcello Ballini in the Eco di Bergamo, 18 April 1963. There is an incomplete setting for T (F-Pc) and two fragments based on Francesca’s words from her response to Dante’s questions (Inferno, Canto 5) in I-BGmd and I-FObp respectively. It was a theme clearly considered by Donizetti and, if composed, the opera would have made for interesting comparison with Pia de' Tolomei. See A279, A279a, A279b. - Allitt
  • A 77 - Gli illinesi. Giuseppe Consul, a Turin impresario, suggested that Donizetti rework this libretto by Felice Romani. Since Romani showed little interest in collaborating the proposal came to nothing - Allitt
  • A 78 - Gli innamorati. I-BGmd: autograph scenario based on Carlo Goldoni's play. See Zavadini, pp. 180-81 - Allitt
  • A 79 - Jeanne la Folle. In 1844 Donizetti considered setting Eugène Scribe's text - Allitt
  • A 80 - Lara. In March 1837 Count Giulio Pulle proposed this subject, taken from Byron, to Donizetti, who showed little faith in the idea - Allitt
  • A 81 - Mademoiselle de la Valliere. A projected work dating from the Paris years, which never materialized - Allitt
  • A 82 - Onore vince amore. Declining health prevented Donizetti's proposal to the Thèâtre-Italien, Paris, for an opera of this title based on a libretto by Giovanni Ruffini - Allitt
  • A 83 - I picc(i)oli virtuosi ambulanti. Donizetti contributed to Mayr's school end-of-term pasticcio for 1819 the introduzione and scena (aria and chorus) taken from his score for Le nozze in villa. - Allitt - In.6
  • A 84 - Ruy Blas. Donizetti considered an opera based on Hugo's play to a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano for Naples (1842) - Allitt
  • A 85 - Sganarello. In 1845 Donizetti's rapidly declining health impended any work being done to an opera on this subject based on Molière’s play. It was to have been a vehicle foe Lablache - Allitt
Pastiches (A86-A88)
  • A 86 - L’ultima parte del comico. A projected pastiche in Vienna 1843 with music by Donizetti, Herold, Miiller and Panseron - Allitt
  • A 87 - Oratorio sacro
  • A 88 -
Attributed operas (A89-A90)
