According to the Wikipedia article, "Busoni intended to dedicate the concerto to his friend William H. Dayas, but he died in 1903." Dayas' daughter Karin Dayas was soloist for the American premiere of this work in Cincinnati 1932 with Fritz Reiner conducting.
