Publisher. Info. Schubert's Werke, Serie XX, Band 3. Aug. bis Ende 1815, No.110 (pp.30-31)
Leipzig: Breitkopf & Härtel, 1895. Plate F.S. 423.
Reprinted New York: E.F. Kalmus, n.d.(1950). Study Score No.1074.
Misc. Notes Breitkopf & Härtel published only a condensed score stating that the work is "Für zwei Singstimmen mit oder ohne Begleitung des Pianoforte" ("for 2 voices, with or without piano accompaniment"). This is erroneous, however. As mentioned in both the Deutsch Catalogue and the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe, the 1st version is for voice and piano, and the 2nd version is for two voices a capella (compare with the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe score).

This “urtext” or “scholarly” (scientific) edition was published at least 25 years ago in Germany and thus is public domain in its country of origin. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum ‘threshold of originality’ to qualify for copyright as an ‘adaptation’. It may not be public domain elsewhere, however. More information about this can be found here.

Navigation etc.

The actual scoring of the piece is confusing because the Breitkopf & Härtel edition condensed both versions into one score, and provided an incorrect description of the scoring: "Für zwei Singstimmen mit oder ohne Begleitung des Pianoforte" ("for 2 voices, with or without piano accompaniment"). To further clarify this matter, the 2nd version score from the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe has been provided. Regrettably, the 1st version score from the NSA cannot be shared in IMSLP at this time due to copyright restrictions, as the volume that contains the version for solo voice and piano was issued in 2009. For those interested, the score can be found in: Neue Schubert-Ausgabe, Serie IV, Band 8, pp.182-185 (Kassel: Bärenreiter-Verlag, 2009, Plate BA 5564), edited by Walther Dürr.
