Apparently one of two works of Brandeis published as Op.63 by Pond (Das versunkene kloster followed the next year).

A performance is mentioned in the February 28 1885 "Boston Transcript". (Probably performed earlier, yes.)

The New York Times of January 8 1882 , under "Music and Musicians", (PDF archive of this available at their website) noted the publication of this work and gave a very brief appreciative review (in which the composer is described as "the well-known composer and organist of this city" (New York).
