History

It was founded in 1861 by the composer C.F.E. Horneman (1840–1906) in Copenhagen, Denmark.[1] However, it was managed by his father, the composer Emil Horneman (1809–1870), who was forced to sold his share of his own company Horneman & Erslev in 1859 in order to prevent bankruptcy.[2] After the death of Emil Horneman in 1870, C.F.E. Horneman took over the management of the company. In 1875, the company was sold to Wilhelm Hansen.
