Lose & Delbanco cover 1850s
History
Lose, along with Horneman & Erslev, was Denmark's main music publisher in the first three quarters of the 19th century, just as Hansen was in the following 75 years.
Carl Christian Lose (1787-1835) founded the firm in Copenhagen in 1821, and Peter Wilhelm Olsen (1791-1859) became a partner in 1835. From 1846 Carl Christian Lose the younger (1821-1892) managed the firm with Otto Hermann Delbanco (1821 -1890) until he sold it to Hansen in 1872.
Lose published many works by Friedrich Kuhlau (1820-50, mainly piano) and Hans Christian Lumbye, (Denmark's Johann Strauss), and a few early works by Gade.
