Although described on the title-page as the eighth edition, the Apollo's Banquet, Newly Reviv'd has substantial differences from Apollo's Banquet to be considered as a new work independently. Playford admits this in the preface: "...the following Book retains nothing almost that belong'd to the former Impressions except the Title...".

Named composers: Mr Peasable (James Paisible), Jeremiah Clarke, Thomas Tollett, Mr Eccles, Mr John Eccles, Gottfried Finger, Henry Purcell, Mr Morgan (probably Thomas Morgan), Mr Wroth, Mr Keene, Mr Teenoe (Stephen Tenoe), Mr Montford, Mr Motley, Mr Courtiville (Raphael Courteville), Mr John Lenton, Mr King (Robert King).
