Editor William Mason (1829–1908)
Publisher. Info. Unidentified Publisher, n.d.(ca.1879 or 1896?). Plate 68a.
Reprinted New York: G. Schirmer, 1896.

Misc. Notes Original scans: 600dpi, grayscale, losslessly-compressed tif files approximately 5600 by 7500 pixels. De-skewed, converted to black and white, and set uniform margins. If this is truly Schirmer's plate number 68 it would place the original publication in the mid-1860s before Raff even wrote the piece.
Well, no, there can be several explanations for that.
(1) WorldCat gives plate 12445a for Vol.369. 68 might be from something else? ... Or more interestingly and more convincingly, (2) this could be WorldCat, published by Edward Schuberth & Co., edited by Mason and Henselt perhaps in the late 1870s (one of Schuberth's E.S.-less plates, like the Matzka sonata from 1879) (and possibly later reprinted by Schirmer in the 1896 edition. I see the 1896 copyright information from Schirmer, but it does not prove that it is an original Schirmer edition; it might be a Schirmer reprint.
