Re chorus: An interesting (and somewhat detailed) August 22 1883 New York Times review does confirm that this work has a chorus (not to be taken for granted in a 19th-century opera. It is noted that Pratt's ambitions are to start a national school of American opera, even if in the reviewer's opinion he falls short of his goal, despite a number of positive qualities to the work which he enumerates.)
