Written for the Cardiff Festival, 1910.
Title taken from a set of poems by Emily Lawless inspired by the "Wild Geese", the name, according to the preface, given by the Irish to the exiles who gave their allegiance ("swords") to France before and after the battle of Aughrim and surrender of Limerick in 1691. The poems detail the events of the battle of Fontenoy, 1745.
