Dear Kcleung
Can you provide more information on the publication? It is very hard for us non-chinese speakers to examine the file in order to release it for access. --Peter talk 04:27, 19 July 2008 (EDT)

Dear Kcleung,
you have created a composer page for Sicong Ma (1912-1987). Do you have the written permission to post his works here? If not, the category will be deleted shortly. You can answer here on this discussion page. Regards, Hobbypianist 11:53, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
Ddar Kcleung, Do you have written permission from the composer's estate to post items here? You've been around here enough that surely know we cannot post things by composers who died in 1987 unless there is clearly permission to do so. Thanks, Carolus 11:55, 4 June 2009 (EDT) (IMSLP Copyright Admin)
Yes his works are of course still under copyright and I am NOT going to post the scores of his works on IMSLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However is it okay to just list the entry of the composer (and possibly a list of his works) here WITHOUT posting PDF scores of his works? so that people can know more about this composer and can be ready to prepare scores once he becomes PD. By law, the fact of the composer and the list of his work itself would not be copyrighted and we are not breaking any laws as long as we don't publish his scores. (otherwise the wikipedia article on Ma would be illegal!)
There are also other composers listed who are still in copyright
http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Non-Public_Domain_Composers
and I think there maybe 1-2 works by Ma published before 1923 (PD in USA)
So like what pml suggested, we need to have a standard template for all composers in the category:
Category:Non-Public_Domain_Composers
which discourages contributors from posting scores unless they can positively proof that the work posted is injected into PD by licenses such as CC
I have also set up a page for Dohnanyi yesterday but it is now removed. Dohnanyi's work will become PD in Canada and all life+50 countries at the end of next year, and all of his pre-1923 works (such as the Variations on a Nursery Rhyme) are already PD in USA. I believe having an entry for Dohnanyi now can encourage contributors to prepare PDFs for the entry of Dohnanyi to PD at the end of next year.
So is it okay to undelete my Dohnanyi entry? Or if not possible, can I re-create it?
Hello Kcleung, I spoke with Feldmahler about this issue and have discussed via message with the other admins. We will be permitting this feature in the near future since there should be a fairly simple way to disable the "add work" feature on such pages. This addresses the main concern we had, which was that having pages for composers like Shostakovich would simply encourage people to violate the law by scanning the works and uploading them here. Disabling the "add work" feature will minimize this risk. We expect to have a template for this type of page in a few weeks. Thanks for the suggestion. Best Wishes, Carolus 23:56, 15 June 2009 (EDT)
That's great! Apart from being a PD scanned PDF score repository, IMSLP also doubles as a wikipedia for composers all around the world, whether or not PD. To be honest, IMSLP is the best way to let the rest of the world knows about Chinese symphonic composers, regardless of whether they are currently in PD.
However for a non-PD composer, if the heirs decide to re-license a work to CC, (not necessary all works by the composer), what mechanism should we let the re-licensed work to be uploaded?
To be safe, should we still forbid web-based uploading and make the uploader to contact one of the copyright admin offline and produce proof that the work is already in CC? Or should we make the heirs to do the uploading themselves (offline to a copyright reviewer)? --Kcleung 05:27, 16 June 2009 (EDT)
Hi, Go to the IMSLP:Copyright Reviewers page for an introduction to the procedures. A link to the test (PDF format) is at the bottom of the page. Once you passed the test, let one of us know and we'll have a bureaucrat assign CR status to you account. That's all there is to it! Carolus 23:26, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
On the FTP, under "Wagner OM/Unlocked" there are some files that need their logos removed. Could you do so please and reupload them to the FTP? Thanks-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 18:21, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi Kcleung, Since the parts you uploaded bear a valid 1965 copyright notice from G. Henle, you should be aware that this title will be subject to the notorious temporary block because of it's status in the USA, where they are theoretically under copyright until 2061. Do you wish for us to keep it here? Thanks, Carolus 00:53, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I believe that this is a reprint by Barenreiter from the scholarly edition (urtext) of the Joseph Haydn Album Reihe 23 Band 3
So does the copyright still apply if this is a scholarly edition? If we choose to implement a 30-year block of scholarly edition, then it means we can publish from 1995 onwards. Are there any reasons why the urtext provision can't apply in this case?
--Kcleung 09:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
KGill is correct. The score was issued with a valid notice and renewal was automatic as it was after 1963. In the USA, that's good for 95 years unless you go to court and prove there was insufficient originality to qualify for copyright. We have no choice but to block it as our corporate address is in the USA. There is no urtext provision in US law. 30 years would be 1979 and before, BTW - not 1995. Carolus 04:56, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
I am interested in helping out with this project. I am fairly fluent in Lilypond, though don't have much experience with parts. Could you let me know what you and Horndude77 are working on at the moment, and what I could start on. Thanks. Deinonychus 19:09, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
I am also interested. I am from Hong Kong and I understand Chinese, so it might help. I use primarily Sibelius. Please let me follow some. NS 17:10, 14 December 2016 (CET)
I have capability of Lilypond and have good command of Chinese & English. so I am very willing to participate in the project. If you have seen my message, contact me please. I would like to know more about the project, and help out as far as I can. AkariChiba Email me 22:30, 6 September 2023 (CST)
Hi, I used finale for my typeset. If you wish, I could upload the PDF of the B-flat transposed part, of I could send you a link to download the file. Briguychau 05:53, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
