History
Johann Traeg (1747-1805) started a score copying business in Vienna in 1782. This became a music goods store in 1789 and a publisher in 1793. His son Johann (1781 -1839) joined the firm in 1803 (Traeg und Sohn) and continued the business after his father's death, finally selling out in 1820 to Artaria and Cappi & Diabelli. The copyrights were sold to S.A.Steiner in 1823.
Traeg published over 600 works, including many first editions of Haydn (Piano Trio in E-flat minor, Hob.XV:31), Mozart (String Quintet No.1 in B-flat major, K.174) and Beethoven (3 String Trios, Op.9).
