An interesting "New & Brilliant" Waltz by J. Strauss published by Lee & Walker of Philadelphia between 1852 and 1854 judging by the plate No. This was at least three years after Sr. died in 1849 and Jr. had assumed the family business, little thanks to Dad who wanted him to be a banker, not a musician.

By 1872 after Jr. performed at the International Peace Jubilee in Boston and Music Festival in New York, publisher Oliver Ditson issued a collection of waltzes. polkas, etc. by "Johann Strauss" called "Gems of Strauss". Not Sr., but Jr. who had dropped the suffix altogether. It is possible that these "J. Strauss" compositions in the U.S were actually by the son.
