My name is Phil Bacon and I am a novice, a sprout among giants in this collection of music. Even though I was raised in a family that loved music with intermediate level pianists and singing voices, I was not so fortunate. But I love music, particularly from the Romantic period and over time collected (and inheirited) a large volume of sheet music and vinyl, My greatest inability was to look at a score and discern its melody. With a relatively inexpensive software app I was able to download, scan and play most piano scores, although without the expression and natural variations of a pianist. I worked to supplement this deficiency and some arrangements are being posted in conjunction with the original scores.
My interest now is mainly for melodic scores that have been forgotten, obscured or seldom played in the commercial world. Currently, the works of Carl Czerny (apart from the didactic) have my attention--original compositions and interpretations of major composers. Wonderful source material there.
I can't play the piano and I can't play the flute, but I can play the computer which gives me the ability to enjoy compositions silent for hundreds of years and to shape them with my own expression. I hope that you enjoy these and others along with me.
Since I am new to this, any comments on my work will be greatly appreciated as a way to improve my final work. Comments or questions, please e-mail me at ken3690@aol.com and please start the subject line with IMSLP for quick identification.
