From around 1900 to 1920 Appleton of New York issued a series of collections of music scores edited by Albert E. Wier entitled ..the whole world plays (or sings). These were substantial collections of about 100 pages, for both instruments and voices. This series was in competition with Hinds, Hayden & Eldredge's contemporaneous The Most Popular series.
