Composition begun in July 1832, though some thoughts preceded this awhile earlier. See e.g. Brown's "Louis Spohr: A Critical Biography", p.216. Premiere was in 1832, not 1835 (see Brown, p.222. My mistake, I think; Brown also says it was given in England for the first time in 1835- which I recall misreading.)
