J. Schoch- guessing: Julius Schoch, a pupil of Alois Schmitt, mentioned in an article on Fälten/Faelten (the pianist who premiered the concerto) here (perhaps as a teacher of Fälten's? Yes: so mentioned in several Fälten bios). (Faelten later moved to the USA, hence perhaps the interest in him and appearance of an article on him in "The Folio" in Boston.) fl.1868-1880s- quote (from biography article about Faelten): "Studied music... with Julius Schoch in Frankfort, 1868". So: fl.1868-etc. (... actually: 1866 since Schmitt died in 1866)
