Vincent Novello's notes in this volume describe the piece as a double bass solo which Dragonetti has often played to him in private, and which Simon Sechter created a quintet version of (by adding a string quarter accompaniment) at Dragonetti's own request. Thus, would this be more accurately described a collaboration between Dragonetti and Sechter, or a double bass solo with an arrangement by Sechter?
