Premiere(?) - see National Archives - "In this cutting die Herren Brodsky and Ottokar Novacek have been underlined in red. In this concert a quartet in E minor and in manuscript by Ottokar Novacek is played by the Brodsky Quartet." (date Jan. 12 1891, "Vierte Kammermusik [Serie I] im neuen Gewandhaus".)
Score, published in 1891, is 47 pages according to WorldCat (see also WorldCat.)
Busoni's piano arrangement of the third movement (made in 1892, according to an article on Busoni in the United States by Marc-André Roberge) has been recorded at least once.
