There is still some uncertainty about the dedicatee: it could be Joseph Hellmesberger Sr. (1828–1893) or Joseph Hellmesberger, Jr. (1855–1907). Hellmesberger, Jr. became Hofkapellmeister at the Vienna Court Opera in 1890, but it is unclear if Hellmesberger Sr. had that specific title. |
