A detailed biography of the dedicatee can be found here (The Eagle and Brooklyn, vol.2, 1892). The march seems likely to have been written for a Masonic ceremony or celebration, possibly the elevation of Alonzo Brymer to Commander (it is dedicated to Commander Alonzo Brymer) or something similar?... don't know. - Schissel
