History
Scribner of New York, founded by Charles Scribner (1821-1871) in 1846 is a famous literary book and magazine publisher. It published Scribner's Magazine from 1887 to 1939. It is currently owned by Simon & Schuster.
Scribner has published many books on music. For example: Music in America by F.L.Ritter, 1890, How to listen to music by H.E.Krehbiel, 1897 and Music since 1900 by N.Slonimsky, 1971, 1986. In addition, in the early years of the 20th (1913) it published The Ideal home music library, a 10-volume series of piano and vocal music anthologies, edited by Albert Ernest Wier (1879—1945).
