According to the notes and manuscripts of the composer that are (incomplete but substantially) in box 30, folder 390 of the Brandeis University de Koven finding aid, the Rip van Winkle scenario was finished 29-30 December 1918, and the vocal score - more a typescript revision with substantial final corrections, apparently, of an earlier copy? - contains the notation "Finished 25 June, 1919" on Act III. (The box also contains a letter to a Mr. Engle (one of the performers? theater director? conductor? impresario?) with notes on the work's second performance, on 12 January 1920.) (Folder 256 box 18 has a proof copy of the published Schirmer vocal score, and there are scattered portions in other boxes.)
