Mentioned in a letter from Liszt to Agnes Street-Klindworth of 30 January 1857 ("... et [a] composé un trio que j'estime comme un des meilleurs qu'on ait ecrit en ce genre", writes Liszt.) Public performance in 1867 known, probably earlier too...
