Premiered in "Ostende" (Ostend, Belgium?). See Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, 27 August 1902 issue. Description suggests this was the world premiere? (The notes to the Naxos recording have the premiere later, in Berlin in November, but unless one is misreading or there is a story here and the Ostend performance didn't come off, this certainly predates...)
