Extra Information SBN's member libraries have autograph manuscripts of parts of Mefistofele dated or estimated to have been written out between 1865 and 1875, so the opera may have been revised between first performance in 1868 and publication in 1876. (It was, in fact; this is known; Verdi (indirectly possibly) inspired him to revise it-as noted above. See the Verdi-Boito correspondence. )
