Extra Information Gounod orchestrated the work in 1872 and conducted the first performance on May 31, 1873. The work was first published in London on July 13, 1872 while the first French edition (Lemoine) didn't appear until November 1, 1873. The orchestral score and parts were not issued until 1879 (Paris: Lemoine).
