Scant information from BNF : Auguste Pierre Marie TESTE, composer and singer. Birth date unknown, death : 21-04-1907.
The publisher's catalog on the back page, lists a number of Parisian "successes", among which a number of "comic scenes" and "comic songs" and other genres, tailored for men, and a plentiful list of songs better suited for women. TESTE is mentioned twice as a composer, but only in the first category.
The present song is not listed on BNF, and was sung by the composer himself, at the Café-Concert (or Music-Hall) called Le Concert Parisien, and it went on being sung by various artists in other Music Halls (l'Alcazar-d'Eté, La Scala, l'Eden-Concert, les Folies-Rambuteau), so we can surmise it was a "real" success.
