Extra Information | According to Delage, Chabrier transcribed the original (for piano 4-hands) for orchestra, and also for piano solo. The 1883 composition date is conjectural as no performance of the piano duet is recorded until 1892, though Delage mentions a Prélude et marche française from May 1885. |
