A research study from Florida State ("Flute Performance Practice in the United States (1870–1900: An Exploration of the Repertoire and Writings of American Flutists Sidney Lanier and Henry Clay Wysham" by Ellen C. Johnson, dissertation, available online) indicates that either Lanier or Wysham performed this song at least once (if not more often - no composer is listed by the dissertation's author, by the way) during the period 1870–1900 also (on 23 Dec. 1874), so (arguably) the work still remained at least marginally in the repertoire at that time.
