plate seems unduly low since GW Brainard had reached plate 576 by 1852, if U Michigan (whose cataloguers are to be commended for keeping note of the plates fairly consistently ...) information is right here and if the 1852 on one of their entries is not an estimate (as 1850 and 1854 often are- 1854 because that's the year Brainard moved. Here we have 1854 as a copyright date though. Plate is very difficult to read in the original scans, anycase.)
