The New York Public Library archives gives this a date of 1941, but it is unknown whether that is composition or publication. Unfortunately, they do not give the instrumentation.
This WorldCat page seems to indicate that the original was solo piano; all arrangements in this collection are so labelled, and there is nothing of the sort on the entry for Hornberger's Faith. Thus, the assumption for this work is that the original instrumentation is solo piano, but the tagging can be changed if the original is ever uploaded to IMSLP and it is not for solo piano.
