French pianist, composer and professeur d'harmonie.[1][2][3]
Born 1801 in Bourg-Saint-Andéol/Ardèche [4], died 1877 in Paris [Paris 5me, Dècès 1877, RegN°2511].
Studied composition with Anton Reicha at the Paris Conservatoire.[5]
Was married to the harpist and composer Sophie Desargues. They regularly performed together (harp & piano) [6][7], and at least one of their compositions is collaborative work (Duo concertant sur la cavatine de 'Anna Bolena', Op.28).
Some sources confuse this composer (Alfred Larmande) with his younger brother, the poet/librettist Adolphe Larmande, or even state they are one and the same person, see e.g. Fétis.
