Known for translating German songs, or rather for providing them with new, French poetry, e.g. in the series Échos d'Allemagne, together with Victor Wilder.[2][3]
The identification of Pierre Toussaint Adolphe Larmande as Adolphe Larmande is somewhat conjectural, but plausible: his official signature (e.g. on his appointment as Chevalier de la légion d'honneur in 1881) always reads "Ad. Larmande", and his brother Alfred Larmande and sister-in-law Sophie Desargues were professional musicians.
