Dutch violist and viola d'amore player. He lived from 1906 to 1940 in Amsterdam. He was a violist in the Concertgebouw Orchestra from 1909 to 1915, and violist of the Dutch Quartet (Hollandsch Strijkkwartet) from 1911 to 1922. From 1923 until 1944 he was a teacher of violin, viola and viola d'amore at the Amsterdam Conservatorium. From 1930 he edited many historical viola d'amore works which were published by Paul Günther of Leipzig in his Meisterwerke für Viola d'Amore und Bratsche series.
