HMB first registers in 1895 (Hofmeister's Monatsbericht (1895), p.298). Wikipedia's source is Store Norske Leksikon which has "composed in 1893". The 1895 publication available in Worldcat (WorldCat) is an arrangement for piano solo by Grieg.
It is possible that the Norwegian National Library? might have among their Halvorsen manuscripts (if I recall correctly...) some useful source material for investigating further?...
To clarify: Halvorsen composed the march for a small theatre orchestra in September 1893 and orchestrated it for large orchestra one year later prior to its publication in Copenhagen 1895. - Norwegian9
