Adolph Berens of Lubeck published mainly light piano works from 1872 to 1892. Typical composers were Theodor Giese, Alexander Dorn, F Behr and Küchenmeister.
It is stated here that the firm was sold to P.J. Tonger of Cologne in 1879. However, HMB lists Adolph Berens entries until 1892. The similarly named Ernst Berens was a publisher in Hamburg from 1862 to 1876.
Friedrich Adolph August Berens (1829-?) founded a music goods store in Lubeck in 1836. He was possibly composer Hermann Berens' (1826—1880) brother. However he is not to be confused with Adolph Berens, the composer's son. Hermann Berens had three sons: Herman Berens Jnr. (1862—1928), Adolph and Ernst.
