  • This piece appears anonymously in a number of period sources and also in Petrucci's Canti B. The sole attribution to Compère is in Casanatense MS 2856.
  • According to Grove Music, most of the contents of the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton are chansons, and although most of them (including this one) do not have text, the text would have either been known to the people of the time, or available elsewhere. There are a few pieces that may have been instrumental in origin. However, Grove Music lists this as a chanson, and RISM lists it as vocal. Accordingly, this has been tagged as a chanson. The language is assumed to be French.
