Was published in 1821, maybe earlier. Its lower opus number than the opp.31 quartets-for-Imbault (or than his Op.44-for-Sieber, published by 1817) doesn't necessarily mean they're earlier works; in those days especially, publishers had more say in opus numbers than composers. Whistling (1817) lists several Opp.1 from different publishers by Fuchs. So, might be the 1821 edition -- (see
