Poem for no.1 used previously in a set of lieder ca.1858 by Albrecht Türrschmidt (1821–1871). Mendelssohn's opus 63 has a work of the same title, though different text?, from that of no.2. (See The Lied, Art Song, and Choral Texts Archive for part of the text of Fallersleben's Abschiedslied der Zugvögel and some of its settings, including Mendelssohn's.)
