Quartet instrumentation as original instrumentation of a Renaissance work? ... no, I don't think so. Text unknown (only a brief incipit of the text available in the only available source for this work, the Chigian Codex which contains so much of - intended to contain all - of Ockeghem's work.) - Schissel (giving open instrumentation only because performance by voices is probably impossible except as vocalise, not because it was intended - ... ?) (Also, capitalization suggested by AMG is Ut heremita solus.)

A motet Ut heremita solus by Ockeghem is mentioned in the Deploration (1497) by Guillaume Cretin. There is doubt as to whether this is the present piece, which appeared in Canti C. Richard Mix 23:53, 6 March 2019 (CET)
