If we are what we have actually done in our lives, then I am a truck driver. I retired from 45 years of commercial driving last year. during those 45 years I married the most amazing woman and we raised four incredible boys. While my wife achieved an Educational Doctorate Degree during this time, I managed to eek out a Bachelors of Business Science in Systems and Operations. ( yes I am full of SOM BS )
When I was a teenager, in the 1970's San Francisco, California, I met Ben B. Olsen, a composer living in a basement in the Haight Asbury. Knowing Ben inspired me learn to play the piano and write music. Life and actual talent did not agree with my aspirations. I have continued to study music on my own and briefly took music theory classes in the 1980s.
In my retirement I plan to change my existential reality by playing the piano and writing music.
I Procrastinate from writing by transcribing old scores into Lilypond or Musescore. (leaning more towards Musescore these days because the playback is much improved.)

I use rounded parentheses ( ) for cautionary accidentals that are already in a score. My reasoning is that even if the copyist made a mistake it's probably a mistake that a reader might make also. If I make an editorial correction of an accidental I use the square brackets [ ]. I am not a musicologist nor do I hold any higher degrees in music theory. My main concern is readability. My scores should be taken with a grain of salt and cross referenced with the original work.
