The Garland City Consort is the Chequamegon Bay region’s chamber orchestra, and one of the few musician-owned orchestras in the world. Our Facebook page is here.
Founded in 2016, we are a repertoire ensemble exclusively dedicated to the Baroque aesthetic. We focus on obscure music, as well as unique arrangements of more familiar pieces. Almost all of our music comes from IMSLP.
The Consort is a mixed-skill ensemble, involving everyone from learners to seasoned professionals. The emphasis is on mutual support and group learning, and we create parts appropriate to a musician’s instrument and skill level.
We take our name from the oldest nickname for our home town of Ashland, Wisconsin. Ashland was famous for its huge public flower beds, and so was called the Garland City of the North.
