User:Ettuspadix

'ettuspadix' is the username and pseudonym of spike brown, an author, composer and film maker currently (2023) residing in Chichester, UK.

the name comes about because the Latin word 'spadix' has two uses - first, it is used as a botanical term, and means anything spiky, or possessing spikes, or the spike itself; and second (but not least...OK, then, least) it represents a colour - a rich, chestnut brown, according to William Whitaker's Words. initially, only 'spadix' was used, but it was discovered that approximately 197 goth-metal bands were named 'spadix', and a sense that our ingenuity had betrayed us descended like a simile; at this point, in a dramatic fit-of-the-Shakespeares, a Caesarean 'et tu' was added to the beginning. the maximum username length allowed on most websites of the time was 10 characters, and so the spaces were removed; hence, 'ettuspadix'. this also explains the lack of capitalisation, in what only appears to be a proper noun.
