Translation of footnotes:
Page 1 a) Clusters on white and black keys. Ranges given approximately.
Page 3 a) This cluster with precisely indicated range is to be held with the middle peddle -on a grand piano- throughout the IVth movement. In case of performing on a piano without such a pedal, abandon the effect entirely! Do not try to substitute the use of the right pedal in its place. b) Accidentals apply only to notes they stand next to.
Page 4 a) This segment may be repeated as many times as desired. End at any random moment in the passage. Release middle pedal instantly when you stop playing.
Page 7 a) This cluster is to be depressed silently. Release the right pedal as soon as you do that, then, as soon as all other notes are gone and only the new cluster is left with its overtones, hold it with the pedal all the way into the next piece.
Page 10 a) This segment should be repeated like a broken record, enough times to bore the audience. Then you may stop at any part of the bar. b) Release pedal gently and with a bit delay.
