In 1892 Novello started The School Music Review, a journal aimed at school teachers It contained information on music teaching as well as many editions of folksongs. Continuing well into the twentieth century, Novello's School Songs series from the collected supplements comprised over a thousand pieces. They are mainly for upper voices: SS SSA or unison S.
