In 1905 two brothers, Charles and John Douglas, both priests, founded The Society of the Faith to promote Anglo-Cathlocisim. The Faith press (1907-1973) was their publishing company. The first publications were Sunday School stamps, to encourage attendance at Sunday School. The premises were in Leighton Buzzard from 1910.
Church music was published from 1917. Typical composers were Charles Wood (1866—1926), Sydney Hugo Nicholson (1875—1947) and Healey Willan (1880—1968). In 1935, the society took on the lease of Faith House, now a listed building, designed by Lutyens, in Westminster.
