Dear User: Please do not use "ca." in date fields without a number to go with it. Firstly, IMSLP date fields sort on numbers, so without a number at the beginning of the field, the system cannot translate "ca.". The number goes first with "ca." afterwards, e.g. "1575 ca." -- this is not how it is written in a sentence (where the "ca." goes before the number), but we have had to reverse that order so that the date sorting works. But secondly, since "ca." means "around", e.g. "around 1575", it is meaningless unless there is a number is there. It would literally mean "around no time".
So if you do not know the date of composition or publication, leave that field blank.
Thanks, IMSLP
