This version precedes the final orchestral version of Tango in Time of War by a few weeks. There are notable differences between this version and the orchestral version, especially in the fugal section between Reh. 10 and Reh. 12.
Also note that the composer apparently considered calling the piece “Tango in War/War Time”. Among his effects is a photocopy of the score on which he used whiteout to change the title. However, the orchestral score (which he copied later) and his list of works both retain the original title. Specifically, he first wrote the newer provisional title on the score and then later covered it over with the original title. The orchestral parts all show the original title. Furthermore, the orchestral version was premiered in 2003 under the original title, so we must infer that he ultimately preferred the original title.
