Sind 4 Horner und nur 1 Posaune besetzt, so blasen Horn 1 und 2 die Es Horn-Stimmen, Horn 3 und 4 die Alto- und Tenor- Posaunen-Stimmen.

meaning:

If there are 4 horns and only 1 trombone, horns 1 and 2 should play the E♭ horn parts, horns 3 and 4 should play the alto and tenor trombone parts. {implying the trombone should play the bass trombone part)
